Way to Go for handing it back!!!! I haven't used the patches.. i did once and I am extremely allergic to the adhesive.. I spent more time scratching than smoking (maybe I should have stuck eith them at that time..LOL) From what I am reading here.. it takes around 4 days to get the nicotine out of your system... I am using Chantix this timeso far so good. So for the next 4 days... have your bottle of water with you EVERYWHERE. when you get a crave take a drink. I also used some ice chips. cinnamon candies. whatever works for you. Hang in there you are soosoo close to 60 My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/10/2008 Smoke-Free Days: 17 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 289 Amount Saved: $45.52 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 12 Mins: 12 Seconds: 26

Elaine, Three words of advice: reward, reward, reward. On those bad days, planning a reward and actually giving yourself one is a huge motivator and can give you a big boost. You've been at this for very near two MONTHS and that is a major accomplishment. Maybe plan something really special for your 60th day? Or give yourself something for getting through that major close call and smelling like roses rather than nasty cigarettes ;) All the best My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/5/2004 Smoke-Free Days: 1301 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 26,020 Amount Saved: $5,854.50 Life Gained: Days: 101 Hrs: 10 Mins: 4 Seconds: 49

Ahhh, ok, some new information. Just coming off the NRT? Well that certainly could cause some increase in cravings. I have quit using the patch, and I have relapsed when I have come off it...more than once. Careful here Elaine. This is cold turkey now, and you should treat this as if it were hell week. Having a cigarette in your hand would be too close for me. Stay close to this site. Good for posting, by the way. THAT is exactly what this site is all about. You have 50 days practice at this. Continue doing what you have been doing up till now. There is a little time left to complete this journey...and YOU CAN DO IT. NOPE is the way it is done. You're a star, Elaine... you beat one very tough situation.... may all those situations be shut down right at the outset for you! something goes right folks...i very nearly smoked. i was down at the hospital for my injection and i met my friend peter there and i took a cig from him. he didn't have a light and in the moment it took to ask someone else for a light i changed my mind and gave peter back his cig. i wonder have i quit nrt too soon? i could go back on to 7mg patches for a fortnight. but then i'll have to go through this all over again. elaine My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/4/2008 Smoke-Free Days: 54 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,080 Amount Saved: 380.70 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 2 Mins: 55 Seconds: 23

Well, of course you can do it , Elaine. You've been doing it for 54 days. Bad day, shmad day. Everybody has them & non-smokers don't smoke because of them, it wouldn't help & we non-smokers know that. It will pass & you will be stronger & more confident in your quit than ever. Elaine - you're just having a bad day. Chances are you'll feel a lot better tomorrow, but only if you don't smoke. Please don't throw your 54-day quit away - it's way too precious.
