Hi Briana : ) I cut back for a bit before quitting cold turkey.  It was difficult but did work for me. What I learned from this site was N.O.P.E. You've probably come across it many times if browsing the site - it stands for Not One Puff Ever!  I bailed on every previous quit attempt (eventually) because I thought that once I'd been quit long enough, that I had the addiction licked and could 'handle' a little 'stress' or 'celebration' related puff!  But I will never lose this Quit because I am fully convinced now that I can Never have One Puff, Ever.  It works!  See the stats here to prove it.!  Good luck Briana!  You can do it too!  Best Wishes : ) Eyja

It sounds like you have set a solid goal for yourself.

Good for you!  It sounds like you also have put quite a bit of thought into preparing.  How else do you need to prepare?

Briana,

Sounds to me like you are opening a door - a common practice amongst the newly-quit but in my experience an unwise choice.

If the 27th as a quit date is too hard for you, that is fine; instead, set your quit date for Saimhain and take the next 3 days to prepare for the big event;  that is, you quitting smoking!

If you reallly want to quit, you will.

Good Luck

    Cigarettes Not Smoked

13 years ago 0 16 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
I decided to cut back on cigs as I am lowering a particular medicine: I will use patches and in heavy emotionall I try not to smoke but won't hit myself on my head if I will, I've done this before under close monitoring of my stop-coach. On Samhain / Halloween I'll say goodbuy to cigs forgood.
